On Sunday, January 13, 2019 (6pm) neighbors from Columbus' Near East Side Neighborhoods will celebrate the New Year entering the Franklin Park Conservatory with their families, friends, crock pots and crudité in hand!
We will be using the Main Entrance to the Conservatory. There will be carts located inside the entrance to help with transporting potluck items to the lower concourse. A map of the conservatory parking and entrance is provided here (click link).
- Conservatory staff in golf carts are generally available to give a ride to those unable to walk from the parking lot.
ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE (it's a little flexible)
4:15-5:30 pm Early Drop-Off
6:00 pm Coat Racks
Check-in/Meal Donations, etc.
Cash Bar & Appetizers
7:00 pm Potluck Service Open
Lower Level Concourse
9:00 pm Photo Booth Closes
Last Call for Bar
10:00 pm The Conservatory closes at 10pm
VOLUNTEERS – We need volunteers willing to help during some of these times (the wonderful staff of the Conservatory set up and take down all of the tables and chairs, so that is taken care it's a huge job and one we greatly appreciate!
Before the Mingle
Palm House [4:30-6]
Setup of the linens on the tables (placement of the glasses with water and floating candles, candy decorations and table tents.
During the Mingle
Show House [6-8:30/9]
Sales (Memberships & Apparel) - Need Smartphone with Square App
Meal Donations - collect cash - periodic "deposit"
Lower Concourse (east of the Palm House) [4:30-8:45]
Helping the Buck's with food placement/setup
assisting with labeling of food, dishes and utensils
breakdown of food from tables after 8:30/8:45
Welcoming, greeting, giving information, socializing
Periodic pickup and trash disposal
After the Mingle [8:30-9:30]
Gather up used linens and table decorations in the Palm House and Veridian.
POTLUCK ITEMS - The buffet tables are located in the Lower Concourse.
Drop off with the Buffet Coordinators on your way in - they will assist with identification and placement of items on the food tables.
EARLY DROPOFFS & APPETIZERS please bring in between 4:15 and 5:30 (Buffet Coordinators will be setting up appetizers & hors d'oeurves for the 6pm cocktail hour).
LABELING - PLEASE!!!!
PLEASE TELL US what you might bring when pre-registering - you certainly can change your mind! There's no special guide or rule - we are adjusting the pre-registration info with suggestions as we get responses.
IDENTIFY non-disposable serving dishes and any utensils with name and phone!
SPECIAL NOTES & DIETARY RESTRICTIONS - It is helpful to know if there are special considerations (such as vegan, gluten free, contains nuts/shellfish). If you have a special dietary restriction...consider bringing that type of item to share!
MAIN COURSE - We are providing a main course of Sliced Lemon Rosemary Chicken Breast and a Vegetarian Penne Pasta.
DRINKS - Non-alcoholic punch and bottled water provided
PAPER PLATES, NAPKINS, CUPS, CUTLERY - Disposables are provided
MEAL DONATION - For guests not bringing a potluck item, we request a donation of $10/meal - donate at the FPCA Registration Table.
CASH BAR - The cash bar serving beer [Miller Lite, Yuengling Lager, Land Grant Greenskeeper Session IPA, Columbus Brewing Company IPA], wine and mixed drinks will be located in the Showhouse (upstairs to the east of the Palm House. Cash and cards are accepted. The bar will be open at 6pm with last call at 9:00pm
FAMILIES - The Jingle Mingle is a Family-Friendly celebration! Please be sure to visit the Photo Booth in the Showhouse and to take your own photos - several times! Remember to use the Hashtag #FPCAMingle
MINGLE & TOUR - Mingle with friends and make new ones! Please enjoy your self-guided Tours of the Conservatory at your leisure until 10pm
